Glenrothes fencer Chloe Dickson is continuing to make great strides in her sport.

Chloe still stays in Glenrothes and works at the Balgonie Arms to help support herself in her training and her studies at Edinburgh University.

Because of her further education she has cut back her foreign competitions this year, but this certainly hasn’t stopped her gaining great results domestically.

At the beginning of the season she won the Essex Senior Open Womans Foil for the second year running. She then went on to claim the Scottish Senior Woman’s Foil Open for the third year in a row, also at this event she just lost out in winning the Sabre competition – losing in the final 15-13.

These results allowed Chloe to reach the number two spot in the GB Senior Womans Foil ranking.

She is now looking forward to the next two big competitions in April, the Birmingham Open and the Senior GB Championships.

Not just focused on individual events, Chloe has also been fencing for Edinburgh University, who have won the Northern Premiere League already and are now just three fights away from becoming GB University team champions.

She also was one of the fencers in the Woman’s Foil Edinburgh Fencing Club team who have won the GB Team Championships for a third year in a row.

In the last fortnight Chloe regained her Great British U23 Woman’s Foil Title, and just this weekend attended her maiden British University & College Sport Championships.

This was held at Sheffield and had over 6200 students competing over nine sports.

Chloe was extremely happy winning both these championshipa, but says “the pressure is on to train hard and retain them next year”.

Chloe also has her sights set on the Senior Commonwealth Fencing Championships, which are being held in Australia in 2018.
