Glenrothes 2 - Armadale Thistle 0

AFTER three home defeats, Glenrothes came out with all guns blazing in last Saturday’s league match.

Thomson was brought down inside the penalty box, the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Martin made no mistake from the resultant kick.

Glens increased their lead when the same player broke and his inch-perfect cross was met by the smallest player on the park, Lyall Shaw, to head home.

On 42 minutes, Glens had the ball in the net again, but Martin was adjudged to have pushed a defender on the way to ‘scoring’.

A very one-sided half ended with Glens creating a couple of openings which came to nothing.

A fine run from Bonnar had Morrison scrambling the ball behind for a corner as Glens took up where they had left off in the secon period.

But it was now a more even contest with both teams creating one or two near misses.

On 58 minutes, Armadale Thistle were reduced to 10 men when goalkeeper Walker was shown a yellow card for something said to the referee. A

s the referee was retreating, another mouthful from the ‘keeper produced a second yellow.

Five minutes later, the substitute goalie made a marvellous save from a rocket shot by Buchan. then a 20 yard shot from Martin just slipped past the upright.

On 83 minutes, Gibson received a head knock and had to be replaced by Laird.

The last chance of the game came the way of Martin, but the Thistle stood firm.

After a very good first-half Glens blew hot and cold in the second, but overall a valuable three points which will stand them in good stead as the run-in to the end of the season continues.

Glenrothes: Roberts, Gibson, McBride, Morrison, Buchan, Juskowiak, Thomson, McCrae, Martin, Kelly, Shaw. Substitutes - Simpson, Moffat, Clark, Murray, King, Laird, Guppy.
