Kirkcaldy Canoe Club members were in sensational medal-winning form at last weekend’s British National and Open Championships at Worcester Canoe Club.

Competing on the Saturday, Sandy Bell won gold in the 6.5km in his K1 in a time of 37mins 6secs, while Margaret Chapman took silver in her 13km K1 race in 1hr 10mins 20secs.

The K2 Events were held in beautiful sunshine on the Sunday, with Kirkcaldy paddlers Charlie Snedden and Brian Chapman landing an early morning silver in the 6.5km race, just a few seconds behind the winners in 34mins 24secs.

In the afternoon session, Margaret Chapman secured another silver in the 13km K2 race with a partner from down south in 1hr 12mins 24secs.

A very bad hay fever attack struck Kirkcaldy under-12 racer April Chapman on the Saturday, and she unfortunately was unable to achieve a medal. She will be back.

This weekend, KCC Members will be competing at the Scottish Sprint Championships.

Racing is held throughout the day on Saturday at Linlithgow Loch.

Spectators are welcome to attend.
