It was a fairly quiet week for the Anster Haddies but some keen enthusiasts still made the trip to the Cairngorms for Sunday’s Aviemore Half Marathon.

The start of the race is approximately 1100 ft above sea level with the Cairngorm Mountains setting a spectacular backdrop for those taking part.

The first seven miles are on tough forest tracks through Glenmore Forest Park and Glenmore village before a forest track around Loch Morlich and then onto the main road continuing past Coylumbridge.

The last short section goes under the main Highland railway line, across Aviemore main street and then past the Four Seasons Hotel to a welcome Finish line which is around 720 feet above sea level.

First back across the line was Bill Hutchison in a time of 1hr 25 and getting first mv60, followed by Jill Thomson in 1hr 52 and close behind her was Alice Hall in 2hr 4.

In the park runs this week, Yvonne dehn secured a course PB in St Andrews in 21.41 and 1st FS25 and second female overall.

She was closely followed by husband Eck Anderson who continues his journey back from injury in a time of 21.51 and third MS35.

In Kirkcaldy Bill Simpson ran a great race in a time of 23.18 and second MV60.
