THE East Fife men’s bowls team had no difficulty in disposing of the challenge of Forfar when they played at the East Fife Stadium last Saturday in their latest Scottish League match.
For the second successive tie, James Fernie was the top scorer with a 19-shot victory over D. Cairns. Next best was Gary Mackie with a 16-shot success against P. Aitchison, and not far behind was Jimmy Forbes with a 13-shot victory over M. Aitchison. Christopher Stein edged out J. Stewart by two shots.
The ladies were agonisingly close to success when they travelled to Glasgow to oppose West of Scotland for their latest Scottish Premier League match last Saturday.
East Fife finished with three victories but ended up two shots behind.
Best winner was Julie Sword, who defeated Jan Woodley by five shots. She was followed by a two-shot win for Lynn Stein against Ann McCormack and a single-shot success for Karen McAndrew against Helen Torrance. However, Catherine Morrow proved to be the match winner for the home side by defeating Alice Fyall by 10 shots.
