AN ENTHUSIASTIC group of senior players from Pittenweem Tennis Club rounded off their Club Championships on Sunday with some closely fought matches.

Pictured, with trophies, are John Brown, who held out to win the men’s singles, alongside Laura Marr and Val Moran, winners of the ladies’ doubles.

Also pictured at the Viewforth Place club are Robert Falconer, Phil Hammond, Ali Smith and partner Debbie Amos.

This Saturday sees a free, end-of-season fun day at the club, running from 2pm. All are welcome to join in games, matches and try to beat the ball machine.

Members of the club will also be on hand to discuss the resurfacing project and ongoing petition. A raffle and light refreshments will run between activities.

Despite the end of the championships, play will continue for a few weeks yet at the club, as coaching will continue on Tuesdays for juniors until half term, when it is hoped it will move indoors.

The juniors’ group meets each Monday evening with parent helpers, while Wednesday evening sessions will also continue for the next few weeks for club players.
