Pittenweem travelled to Methilhill for a league game and they produced a good performance to win comfortably.
The early exchanges were fairly even with Strollers coming close with a header after three minutes and a shot from 20 yards by Rovers striker Craig Cameron which went just wide.
With 18 minutes played Pittenweem went ahead when Cameron received the ball on the left and came inside to fire a great shot from 25 yards high into the net.
They came close to scoring again soon after when Jimmy Hughes took the ball into the box and hit a shot, but it was well saved by the Strollers’ ‘keeper. Rovers second goal was scored after 26 minutes when they were awarded a free kick a couple of yards outside the box.
David Wilson took the free kick which was saved by the Strollers’ keeper and Craig Cameron reacted quickly to fire the rebound into the net.
The home side tried to get back in the game and they came close after 35 minutes when they attacked down the right and played a low cross into the box that was just too far ahead of their strikers.
Pittenweem scored their third goal with 39 minutes on the clock.
The ball was played up to Gary Wishart and he laid it off to James Ketchen who ran into the box and rounded the ‘keeper to score a great goal.
There was still time for Pittenweem to score a fourth goal before half time, and after 43 minutes the ball was played up to Gary Wishart and he shot into the corner of the net from just inside the box.
The second half started with Methilhill trying to get back in the game and following a good move they had a shot from inside the box on the right which went inches past.
They came close again after 12 minutes when they broke forward and had a shot at goal from inside the box that was well saved by Rovers’ ‘keeper Guy Robinson, and the rebound broke to a Strollers player who had his effort at goal blocked by Alex Bowman.
Pittenweem had a chance to score following a good run and shot by Liam McGhee that went just past the post.
Five minutes later they did score again to make the score 5-0 with a pass from Bowman to Craig Cameron, and the striker ran through to slot the ball past the ‘keeper for his hat-trick.
The scoring was completed with around 10 minutes of the game remaining when Craig Cameron broke through the Methilhill defence again, and he ran into the box and finished low in the corner for Rovers’ sixth and his fourth goal.
