It turned out to be a dreich day for the first match of the season at Ladybank Golf Club.

Traditionally, this is the occasion when the teams of the incoming men’s and ladies’ captains challenge those of the vice-captains, the ladies competing for a silver salver, the men for a quaich – both donated by the Rotary Club of the Howe of Fife.

Captain Bobby Robertson conceded a decisive defeat to vice-captain Brian McSkimming.

As for the ladies, the team led by captain Margaret Hair emerged the victors and were duly awarded the silver salver.
