Kirkcaldy rally driver, Stuart Baillie, competed in the Kingdom Stages Rally last weekend at Crail.
Stuart and navigator, Lachlan Cowan from Dunfermline, finished second overall in the Subaru Impreza STI in some of the worse conditions the team had ever experienced.
“It has to one of the most difficult rallies I’ve ever done,” said Stuart.
“The conditions were very slippy and wet and the car was hardly in a straight line.
“We a few issues being held up by other competitors and having the wrong tyres, but all thing considered I am absolutely delighted with our result.”
He added: “I cannot thank my Service crew and sponsors enough – it was cold and raining heavily all day but despite this they kept the car running faultlessly which allowed us to push hard.”
Stuart and Lachlan were never lower than second out of the 80-car field all day, setting two fastest stage times and were leading for a brief moment before going into the last of the six timed special stage.
However, poor tyres cost them the ability to push for the overall win.
“The tyres were terrible on the last two stages and we really couldn’t get any heat into them, which resulted in us struggling for grip and cost us a lot of time,” Stuart explained.
The result means Stuart has finished third overall in the Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship and has won his class making him class 5 STRC champion.
Stuart has a growing team of sponsors including Martin Johnston & Socha, MA Bodyshop, The Sign Co, Arthur Lang Vehicle Repair Specialists and new sponsors U-Pull it, Co-Part, Inverkeithing and Go2 Nationwide Vehicle Rental and Shennan Motorsport.
Stuart and the team are now looking forward to next season, whatever that may hold for them.
