St Monans Swallows.................2

The Blues took a shock lead when Young scored with a header from a fine first-half Paterson delivery.

But the advantage lasted less than 60 seconds as McGhee produced a great turn in the box and steered the ball into the far corner for the equaliser.

Play raged from end to end until, in the dying minutes of the first half, Smith poked home a cross from Craig Cameron to give the away team a lead at the interval.

McGhee scored his second when a Marc Cameron free kick was parried by the keeper for the Pittenweem striker to prod home.

Worse was to follow for St Monans as Gardner increased the lead with a tap in.

Wishart drove home a low shot and a McGhee header, to complete his hat-trick, gave Pittenweem an unassailable advantage.

Swallows did take some consolation when Jardine scored in a scramble near the end.

Pittenweem undoubtedly deserved their victory but, up until half-time the Swallows put on a great show.

However, the squad knows more consistency will be required.
