ROVERS headed west to Dalgety Bay for a quarter final tie in the Peter Omand League Cup.
Pittenweem almost took the lead when a long ball over the Bay defence found David Wilson, who rounded the ‘keeper, but his effort from a tight angle went narrowly wide.
Pittenweem deservedly took the lead with three minutes of the half remaining, when a Neale Smith pass found David Wilson, who beat two defenders, ran into the box and scored with a deft chip over the Dalgety Bay ‘keeper.
Pittenweem were slow to get started in the second half and they paid the penalty when Dalgety Bay managed to equalise after eight minutes.
A long kick out was headed on by their striker, who collected the return ball and finished well from 12 yards.
However, the Rovers supporters didn’t have long to wait for their team to take the lead again.
With 13 minutes of the half played, a ball down the right flank was chased by Derek Ireland, who beat his defender and shot high into the net from just inside the box.
Goal number three for Pittenweem arrived with 23 minutes on the clock when Liam Tarvit received the ball on the edge of the box, side stepped his man and curled a great shot into the far corner of the net from 15 yards.
The final action of the game saw Pittenweem almost increase their lead when David Wilson crossed for Neale Smith to head wide from close range.
