LEVEN athlete Derek Rae is setting about fulfilling his ambition is to compete for Great Britain and challenge for a place in the GB Team for the Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016.
The Anster Haddie runner has received enormous support from his club since a motor cycle accident in 2010 left him with injuries on the right side of his body, including arm, ribs, shoulder, head and eyes, resulting in a brachial plexis injury.
The president of Disability Sport Fife, Richard Brickley, hailed the Levenmouth runner.
He said: “The Edinburgh Marathon in May 2013 is a major focus for the Disability Sport Fife Futures Squad member. It is in the Edinburgh Marathon that he hopes to run a best performance and bring his skills and abilities to the attention of UK Athletics.”
Mr Brickley added Derek also has the talent to become a Paralympians or Para-Sport athlete at the Commonwealth Games.
