A CUPAR man now on the road to recovery after a battle with bowel cancer, has swung into action to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
Stuart Donaldson, of Bishopgate, was diagnosed in March 2010 and had to undergo a major operation as well as six months of chemotherapy.
That was less than a year after the birth of his daughter, Sophie, now aged three.
Since undergoing treament his scans have come back clear, but it will be another two years before he is given the final all-clear.
Stuart (48) has planned a charity golf day at Cupar Golf Club on Sunday, June 17, as a way of saying thank you for all of the treatment and care he has received since his illness began.
Some 140 golfers have already signed up to take part and Stuart has also managed to have many of the course’s nine holes sponsored by local businesses.
He has also received a number of raffle prizes for the day.
Stuart, who is a member of St Andrews Golf Club, said: “I have had a really great response so far and have raise a lot of money withour even hitting a ball yet!
“I hope more people will come forward to sponsor a hole or donate a raffle prize and help me raise even more money for his very deserving charity.”
Each hole costs £50 and sponsors will have their name on a plaque beside the tee for the duration of the day.
