Gary Vandermeulen will be joining the coaching team at Carnegie.
He is a former Olympian, competing for Canada in 1988. In 2000 Gary was a member of the Great Britain Olympic team as a coach. Gary has formerly been named as Scotland’s Coach of the Year.
He coached Scotland’s most decorated swimmer - Alison Sheppard to many successes winning medals at Commonwealth, European and World Championship levels. Alison represented Great Britain at five consecutive Olympics. She was the fastest woman in the world under the guidance of Vandermeulen.
Carnegie’s Head Coach John Szaranek stated: “I am delighted at the opportunity to work with Gary. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience that I hope to fully exploit. Gary knows quite a few of our swimmers and the coaches at the club are excited at the prospect of developing the talent they have.”
