DERBY DELIGHT: Woodside Boys Club defeated Glenrothes Strollers in a dramatic penalty shoot-out to win the Association of Fife Youth Football Club’s Under-16 League Cup after a thrilling final ended all square after extra-time.
Strollers took the lead on 13 minutes through Tony Steele, but Dylan Anderson levelled for Woodside around the half-hour mark.
On 62 minutes, Kieran Wylie put Woodside in front with a spectacular free-kick, but four minutes later it was Strollers’ turn to equalise through Jack Ballantyne.
Extra-time failed to produce a winner, and it was sudden death penalties which decided the match, Lewis Scarlett slotting in the decisive kick.
That allowed Woodside to add the trophy to the Fife Cup.
