LITTLE Eilidh Gronkowski from Markinch has become Britain’s youngest ever cycling champion - aged just three!
She claimed the top spot in the British Under 8 Championships, hosted by British Cycling, held at Cathkin Braes at the weekend.
Eilidh completed one gruelling lap in blistering heat and crossed the line with a great big smile on her face.
Older brother Gavin, aged seven, made it a Gronkowski family double as he went on to win the British championship in the U8 boys category.
However, dad Ewan was unable to match his kid’s stunning achievements, finishing fifth in one of the adult categories.
This was still a good result, however he was disappointed as he had been on the podium in Scottish Cross Country Championship (SXC) events throughout the year.
Ewan has said he will try to get a medal at the Scottish Championships in Kirroughtree on September 2.
The Gronkowski family trio are members of local mountain biking group, Mukyriderz, which was formed in 2007 and now has as many as 20 team members competing in the SXC Championship during the 2013 campaign.
Jason Lindsay, the only other Mukyriderz racer who competed at the British Championships, finished sixth in the Sport category.
