Falkland Cricket Club’s under 13 team finished runners up to Grange CC (Edinburgh) in the Nat West Cup finals day held at Inverleith in Edinburgh.

The team reached finals day by overcoming Kinross-shire and Perth Do’cot in earlier rounds which set up a semi final on Sunday against Forfarshire.

In the semi Forfarshire batted first and made 74 for 6 in their 20 overs.

Freddie Connolly was the star bowler with 3 for 3 off his 4 overs and he also took a great catch. Lyle Robertson and Calum Cook each took a wicket and there was also a run out .

Robbie Disborough for once was wicket less but nonetheless bowled tightly as did Alistair Licence.

Ian Halliwell also bowled a fine last over when the pressure was on.

Ethan Burkin again showed he has a safe pair of hands with a great catch.

Ground fielding from the whole team was excellent with Emma Halliwell, Freddie Disborough,and Chris Campbell making some fine stops.

Angus Cook had probably his best game behind the stumps and carried this good form into his batting when he and big brother Calum opened for Falkland.

Angus made 25 not out batting throughout the innings and was well supported by Calum, Freddie C, Robbie and Lyle who also finished not out.

The 75 required for victory was reached for the loss of three wickets with balls to spare.

On to the final and batting first the Falkland youngsters never got going against an extremely accurate and persistent Grange bowling attack.

The Falcons were all out in the 16th over and with rain looming the Grange opening batters knocked off the runs in no time at all.

The club has thanked everyone who helped out on finals day.

The Falkland youngsters still have much to look forward to this season with an U13 Scottish Cup quarter final against Forfarshire and the U15s due to play Stoneywood Dyce in a second round Scottish Cup tie on Sunday.
