Glenrothes fencer Chloe Dickson has capped a memorable month by qualifying for the Great Britain U23 squad.
Chloe, who trains in Dunfermline and Edinburgh, competed in three competitions in March following the silver medal she picked up in British Junior U20 Woman’s Foil Championships in February.
On March 7 Chloe was in London fencing in the Leon Paul Senior Woman’s Foil Open, again making it all the way to the final and finishing runner-up losing a timed out match 14-12.
Then on the 15th it was the Edinburgh Senior Woman’s Foil Open where Chloe cruised into the final, initially trailing 9-2 to club mate Victoria Duxbury, fighting back back for a 15-10 victory.
But it was her victory on Sunday in the U23 British Woman’s Foil Championships in London, the first time this age group has been competed for in Britain, that saw Chloe, who won the final 15-1, make it to the GB team which will travel to the U-23 European Championships in Vicenza, Italy next month.
Chloe’s coach and father Alan McCallum said: “Chloe is still training hard as there are still a couple of competitions to go until the end of the season.”
