Plenty at ‘steak’ in Boxing Day race

Bright weather and good underfoot conditions saw 82 runners take part in Fife Athletic Club’s Boxing Day handicap race in Kirkcaldy’s Beveridge Park.

Winner of the trophy and a steak pie presented by club president Gary Barker was 10 year old Jenny Gillanders. Jenny who lives in Aberdour and runs for Pitreavie covered the course in a speedy nine minutes 12 seconds.

The three fastest scratch times of the day were set by young Fife AC athletes – first was Euan Boyle in 7.09, followed by James Pennycook in 7.19 and Gregor Malcolm in 7.24. Fourth was Euan McInnes of Lothian Running Club in 7.39.

The four fastest scratch times for women were all set by Fife AC girls Stephanie Pennycook 7.43, Annabel Simpson 7.57, Laura Gibson 8.20 and Louise McCullagh 9.09.
