The Leven based Tei Mixes Martial Arts Team has celebrated success at an event in Hamilton.

Lee Kinnell, who fights out of the dojo in Dowies Gym, beat an Aberdeen fighter in the second round of his fight, forcing his opponent to submit.

Coach Bert Ford was delighted with Lee’s performance, saying: “This was a great win for the local boy who is now preparing for his fight at the Alahmbra Dunfermline art of combat show, voted Scotland’s number one MMA event.

“Lee has a lot of potential to be successful but, right now, it’s a learning process.

“Stuart Jamieson prepared Lee well for the ground game as we expected the fight to go to the ground rather than standing striking.”

Tei mixed martial arts and fitness meet on a Tuesday at 6.30p.m., Thursday 6.00p.m. and a Friday 6.45p.m. at Dowies Gym.

It’s open to those looking to keep fit, improve self defence or take part in competition.
