WITH Waid Academy FPRFC out of action at the moment due to the current series of autumn internationals, it gave a chance for the club’s younger members to take the stage.

The Waid Pirates set their sails west for Rosyth to take on their counterparts from the Fife Southern League.

And the youngsters showed that the future is bright for the Waid as they returned home with success.

The two sides which Waid fielded won their games, the younger side winning by 12 tries to five and the older group of players by four tries to one.

All players showed positives and, more importantly, the core values of the game including respect, leadership, achievement and enjoyment.

Waid Minis train on Sunday mornings at 10.30am until noon, although times differ on match days.

At the other end of the spectrum, the club’s over-35 side, The Buccaneers, will take part in the Rikki Lees veterans tournament in St Andrews which will be hosted by Madras.

Waid won the tournament last year and will be looking to retain the trophy.

The tournament will take place on Saturday, November 24 with a starting time of 11 am for any fans who want to attend.

And then the Waid Academy squad will return back to action following the internationals on December 1.

The local side will travel to Grangemouth, where they will get their Caledonia Midlands Division 3 A campaign under way with a kick-off at 2pm.

The division is a combination of the top four sides from the east and west leagues squaring off.

Waid FP currently sit in fourth position in the RBS Caledonia League Division Three Midlands East with 27 points from seven games played.

The table is being topped by Dundee University with Kirkcaldy seconds and Howe of Fife seconds also above the local men in the division.

Both Dundee and Howe have played a game more.
