Scott Fleming has left Fife Flyers to continue his ice hockey career back in North America.

The hard-working forward, who impressed many fans last season, has signed for Greenville Road Warriors in the ECHL.

The South Carolina club is the official ECHL affiliate to the New York Rangers

Its website announced the deal this afternoon, describing Fleming, aged 27, as ‘‘a work horse for the Fife Flyers ... who averaged nearly a point per game. He finished the season fifth on the squad in scoring with 59 points (26g, 33a) and added 100 penalty minutes in 62 contests.

The Warriors are delighted with the acquisition.

Brian Gatz, head coach told his website: ‘‘Scott is a quality centerman who has good experience at the pro level. He plays fast and makes a difference no matter what situation he’s in. He will be a tremendous asset for our offense.”

Fleming was one of the stand-out and most consistent players with Flyers last season, where his work rate stood head and shoulders above the rest.

With the Kirkcaldy club’s roster almost complete - just two import slots remain to be announced - it was clear that he may well move on after just one season in the Kingdom.
