FIFE Flyers can win the Northern League title on Saturday.

The unbeaten league leaders travel south to face Sheffield Spartans knowing victory in the double-points game will wrap up the championship with three games to spare.

Flyers are hoping to clinch their first Northern League title win in three years after finishing runners-up to Solway Sharks in both 2009 and 2010.

Player-boss Todd Dutiaume told SportsPress: “It’s a big weekend for us.

“If we don’t go to Sheffield and get the four points we need, we’ll have to go to Whitley Bay and win, which will be a tall order.

“Some of the Sheffield guys have had experience playing up with the Icedogs in the EPL lately, and they are vying for the third play-off spot, so they are not going to roll over and die for us.

“Every single guy has got to show up to get us over the winning line.”

Flyers match at Ice Sheffield is due to face-off at 4.15 p.m. Should they win, the league trophy will be presented at the final home match on March 5.
