St Andreans to enjoy ultimate frisbee fun

Members of a St Andrews University frisbee club have now formed a new organisation to allow local residents to enjoy the sport.

The new club, Saints Ultimate, will play on the university sports pitches beside the David Russell apartments and everyone from 14 to 75 is welcome to join in.

Organisers say the sport has a unique atmosphere owing to the fact that games are refereed by the players themselves who make their own foul calls and settle their own disputes.

Ultimate is a fast-moving team sport which requires speed and agility at the highest level but it can also be enjoyed as just a bit of fun in the park.

Saints Ultimate is part of an outreach drive from the Department of Sport and Exercise at the university which encourages student sports clubs to help with community projects and clubs to bolster the town and gown relationship.

The club will meet on Saturdays between 2 and 4pm at the sports pitches beside the David Russell apartments with the first meeting being held tomorrow (Saturday).
