LUNCHTIME shoppers in St Andrews were alarmed when smoke started appearing from a heater in the ceiling of Waterstone's book shop in Market Street on November 24.

A spokeswoman for Fife Fire and Rescue service said two units from St Andrews attended, but an electrician had already been called out and the incident was quickly over without any properties having to be evacuated.
