CLAN noise row prompts call for venue outside St Andrews

A ST ANDREWS councillor has called for a rethink on the site being used to stage an annual religious festival in the town after some local residents complained about the noise levels.

Bill Sangster spoke out as the CLAN (Christians Linked Across the Nation) gathering went ahead in the grounds of Madras College in Kilrymont Road this week.

The site had been used by CLAN in the past but, in recent years, the group held their annual get-together at Strathtyrum — on the outskirts of town.

"I wouldn't have let it go ahead at the school and now I am hearing it's causing the same problems with noise once again," said Councillor Sangster.

"Several years ago it was held at Madras and it was very noisy

''There is a residential area around it and, when you start beating drums in the morning, it upsets people so they have to look at how it effects the local community.
