MIXED weather failed to dampen the carnival atmosphere at the fifth annual St Andrews Harbour Gala on Sunday.
Many St Andreans and visitors to the town turned up for the popular event which was once again organised by the harbour ''Friends.''

The programme included the ever-popular human five-a-side football tournament in which competition was fierce but fun.

Other attractions included a putting competition, barbecue, darts and a coconut shy.

Younger visitors enjoyed a range of entertainments including a carousel and slides while bargain hunters trawled through the stalls.

Ideal for the overcast and rainy conditions during the afternoon was a marquee at which afternoon teas, strawberries and cream and other refreshments were available.

The gala, revived in 2004 after a break of around 40 years, enables the volunteer group to raise funds to help maintain and improve the harbour and its surroundings, which date back to medieval times.
