NORTH east Fife is set to swing next month when the 2010 Fife Jazz Festival gets up and running.
This year's event — held between Thursday, February 5 and Sunday, February 7 — boasts a stellar line-up of national and international artists, including British jazz legend Acker Bilk.

The 'Stranger on the Shore' star brings his Paramount Jazz Band to Rothes Halls in Glenrothes on the Friday.

Other acts appearing include singer Carol Kidd.

Hailed as a national treasure and the recipient of an MBE, Carol will be sharing the stage with her award-winning guitarist Nigel Clark at St Andrews' Byre Theatre on the festival's opening night.

Also appearing in north east Fife are the Norrbotten Big Band with Peter Erskine, the Colin Steele Stramash, saxophonist Frederik Nordstrom, and the Nova Scotia Jazz Band — all at the Byre Theatre.

The Lomond Hills Hotel in Freuchie, meanwhile, will play host to a special double header of the best in young jazz. The Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra will be joined on the Sunday by Sweden's Arctic Youth Jazz Orchestra

The full line-up and ticket information are available at the festival's website, www.fifejazzfestival.com
