HERB Kohler, the new owner of Hamilton Hall, says he is ''delighted'' to have the opportunity to watch the iconic building "come alive again."
The billionaire owner of the Old Course Hotel flew into St Andrews last Friday to confirm his company had acquired the famous landmark, overlooking the Old Course's 18th green.

Speaking to the Citizen, Mr Kohler said his company's experience and resources put it in a position to restore the building "like no other could."

St Andreans are hoping this latest development draws a line under years of neglect and false dawns that have seen Hamilton Hall reduced to a shadow of its former self.

Mr Kohler told the Citizen his company was ready to listen to the public and take their views on board as it prepares to restore the building.

He said: "This is a wonderful opportunity and a unique one also. It will be so good to witness this building come alive again.
