THE new St Andrews Community Hospital has been linked in to the bus network in time for its opening next month.
Local and long distance bus services have been revised to serve the new facility on the southern edge of the town prior to the imminent transfer of medical services from the Memorial Hospital in Abbey Walk and the Health Centre in Pipeland Road.
Fife Council transportation services said this week that they had ''worked closely'' with NHS Fife, Stagecoach in Fife and Moffat & Williamson to ensure as many buses as possible will serve the hospital.
The new and revised bus routes link Tayport, Newport, Gauldry, Leuchars, Cupar, the Howe of Fife, Strathkinness, the East Neuk and Leven with the hospital.
There is also good coverage within St Andrews town itself and a Go-Flexi Taxibus service can provide links from the many rural settlements in the Peat Inn/New Gilston area.
The main bus stop is in the hospital grounds, just a few metres from the main entrance. Additional bus stops are on Largo Road adjacent to the hospital and on John Knox Road at the supermarket.
