SCHOOL pupils in St Andrews and the East Neuk have been finding out what the future holds for them this week as exam results dropped through letter boxes across the country.
On Tuesday moning, pupils across the country were tearing open their mail or going on-line to find out how well they'd done in their SQA and Higher exams.
Although analysis of the results is still continuing early indications are that local pupils have done well.
Madras College head Ian Jones said his initial reaction before he had detailed comparative statistics was that he was very pleased with the Advanced Higher results where pupils had performed very well.
Higher results were at a level expected with some strong individual performances.
In Standard Grade exams, Credit results were very good and looked to be up on last year.
At Waid Academy, acting headteacher, Iain Hughes said results were generally in line with predictions with some departments doing exceptionally well.
"Subjects such as biology, music, art, physics and French performed well at most levels with a pleasing upturn in the results at Higher level in mathematics," he told the Citizen.
"This year has seen an increase in a number of courses for a wider range of abilities and we are very pleased with the way in which pupils have performed in these areas.
"At most levels, Standard Grade, Intermediate 1 and 2, Higher and Advanced Higher, percentages are still above national levels.
"We have also seen an increase in the number of Access awards for pupils with particular support needs.
"Every cohort is different and while we celebrate areas of achievement, we will continue to strive to do the best for all pupils at their appropriate level of study."
Any students who have not have received the results they were expecting can call SQA Candidate Advice Line: 0845 278 8080 (due to close today, Friday) or Careers Scotland's One Life Helpline: 0808 100 8000 which is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. including weekends until August 22.
