PUTTING the 'real' into reality entertainment are Paul Samson (Raymond in BBC TV's River City) and fellow TV and stage actor, Laurie McNicol.
Along with Miss Teen Galaxy-UK Emma McInnes (17), the St Andrews pair - who studied at drama school together - will be judging the first-ever 'Fife's Got Talent' show which has heats in the Byre Theatre all this month.

While they might not have the global empire of pop moguls Simon Cowell or Louis Walsh, our local heroes aim to make sure everyone involved in the show, which is being run in conjunction with Leuchars Community Drama Group and The Byre Youth Theatre, gets a fair showing and the audience enjoys some real entertainment.

There's still time to enter.

The first audition takes place at the theatre in Abbey Street on Tuesday, July 7, with further heats each Tuesday at the same time, 7 p.m., until the end of the month

Organiser Steve Sinclair, operations manager at the Byre, told the Citizen: "The competition, which came from an idea born at a meeting between the Byre, the theatre's youth drama group and Leuchars Community Drama Group, is open to all ages and talents — no matter what!

''So whether you can sing, dance, juggle or have a band or dance troop, come along and audition. So far we have a drumming group, singers of all ages, from 16 to 61, guitar players, dancers and a stand up comedian, coming from all over Fife.

''There will be at least one judge at every heat and all three will be together for the final."

The final will be held live, on stage, at the Fife Council-backed St Andrews: 'Inside Out Festival' on Saturday, August 1, at 2.30 p.m. and the winner will receive a first prize of £500.

'Fife's got Talent' is a fundraiser for the Byre Youth Theatre and Leuchars Community Drama Group.

Application forms and more information are available from www.byretheatre.com, or the theatre box office.
