LEVEN is set to welcome American wrestling back to the area, as the sports entertainment goes through a renaissance.
In Glasgow recently, funnymen Greg Hemphill (Chewing the Fat) and Robert Florence (Burnistoun), staged a sold event named Oran War, with its success possibly launching a domestic wrestling return back into the mainstream.
Across the 1970s and ‘80s, wrestlers such as Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks became household names until the sport, on these shores anyway, began to run out of steam.
But a new breed of determined Scottish wrestlers are continuing to put their bodies on the line for increasing levels of crowds.
And people across this area will be given a chance to see for themselves just how exciting these men and women can be in full flight, when the W3L organisation brings its stars to the Regent this Sunday, November 18.
As a local tie-in, several Fife wrestlers will be appearing at the event.
Former women’s champion Sara (Lochgelly), former tag team champion Taylor Bryden (Cardenden) and current W3L heavyweight champion Mike Musso (Kirkcaldy), who is currently being scouted by a major American wrestling company, will all be trying to win success for the Kingdom.
Musso will put his title on the line against King Liam before women’s champ Nikki Storm takes on Sara and Carmel Jacobs.
Doors will open at 2pm, with the first match taking place at 2.30pm.

FIVE lucky Mail readers have each landed a pair of tickets to Sunday’s wrestling spectacular at The Regent.
They submitted the first correct entries pulled from the hat in our competition, which featured in last week’s issue.
We asked you to complete the name of a famous Scottish wrestler, and the answer was Rowdy Roddy Piper.
Winners were Kevin Baxter of Buckhaven, J. Logie of Methil, Demi Curran of Buckhaven, Michael Dunsire of East Wemyss and Jean Wilson of Methil.
The winners have been notified, and are asked when they go to The Regent to enjoy the action this Sunday, November 18, to take some identification with them in order to claim their tickets, which will be left for them at the box office.
