East Fife have attracted some heavyweight, ‘A’ list support ahead of this weekend’s crunch relegation decider.

The Methil side will travel to Ayr on Saturday knowing that a win will secure their place in the League One play-offs.

And as well as instructions from boss Gary Naysmith, the Fifers will have some strong words from film hard man Ray Winstone ringing in their ears!

Winstone, star of ‘Scum’ and ‘Sexy Beast’, is long-time friends with East Fife director Alex Hamilton who approached the telly star for some words of inspiration ahead of Saturday’s game at Somerset Park.

Although known as a big fan of the claret and blue of West Ham, Winstone took up the offer and has thrown his backing this weekend behind the black and gold of East Fife.

Alex told the Mail he’s known Winstone for some time from his days working with a band in London who the film star also knew.

In his e-mailed message, which may make its way onto the Somerset Park dressing room wall this weekend, Winstone tells the Methil men: “Good luck East Fife. Get out and do the business. Do it for your fans and do it for yourselves. Focus on winning and nothing else. Eleven men against eleven men. Who wants it more? YOU DO !!!!!!!! CRACK ON !!!!!!!”
