Fifers invited into artists’ workshops virtually

Artists from around north east Fife will open their doors next month.

Open Studios North Fife – the award-winning, free event – was cancelled because of lockdown, but organisers have put together a new event which will give visitors the chance to see how artists work.

It will showcase a huge range of skilled practitioners, including nationally and internationally recognised award-winning artists, designers and makers, alongside some talented emerging artists. You can see how ironwork is crafted in a forge, how paintings are built up from sketches, and how jewellery, glasswork, pottery and wood is fashioned into beautiful artwork.

Opening studios is more problematic than usual so there will also be a big virtual presence which can be accessed through the new OSNF Facebook group ‘Open Studios North Fife Virtual Hub’. This will direct visitors to artists’ social media pages and websites. The event website – www.openstudiosfife.co.uk – will provide up-to-date information about which studios will be open, which will be closed, and which artists will be exhibiting virtually only.

Participating studios are spread around the villages and towns of north east Fife.

A spokesperson said: “Hand sanitizer at the ready, masks on – we are waiting to give you all a very warm, socially distanced welcome to our homes and our artwork.”

The event runs October 10-12, 10am-5pm.
