Fife’s biggest annual arts competition is adding a new twist this year.

Shell is funding free art tutorials that can help and encourage people to develop their skills – or even have a go for the first time.

And with only three weeks until the deadline for entries, there’s never been a better time to pick up a paintbrush or get crafty with materials.

Local tutors Laura Rigby, who will demonstrate the art of ‘journaling’ using recycled materials at home, and Colin Joyce, who will be showing how to paint a coastal landscape using only three colours, are delivering the online lessons.

Fife Art, organised by ONFife, has been running for more than 35 years and this year’s theme is Coast and Waters, echoing VisitScotland’s Year of Coast and Waters 2020 campaign.

The competition is open to all amateur artists living in Fife who are not currently undertaking or have not completed full-time degree or diploma art courses.

The closing date for entries is Monday, September 7.

Six winning artists will each receive a prize of £200 and their works are donated to NHS Fife for display.

Submissions can be made through the ONFife website
