All of Fife’s pantos have now been cancelled.

The last remaining festive show, Cinderella at the Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline, was officially cancelled this week.

They have all fallen victim to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic with theatres still unable to re-open their doors.

The trust which runs the Alhambra made the “difficult decision” to postpone its panto until 2021 to formally bring the certain down on all of the region’s pantos.

Kirkcaldy’s Adam Smith Theatre has shelved its plans to stage Snow White from December 5 to January 3, while the Byre Theatre in St Andrews has also cancelled its annual show.

The Alhambra said it had studied every possible option before deciding the show could not go on in light of the current uncertainty over a return to live performances and the possible impact of restrictions on numbers attending.

It confirmed the show would be staged in 2021 with all existing ticket holders transferred.

Announcing the new plan on its Facebook page, it said: “With a star studded cast, dazzling costumes, spectacular sets and superb special effects, the production in December 2021 at the Alhambra will be the biggest and best production of the most popular pantomime title of them all, Cinderella, ever staged in Fife.

“Our box office team will automatically transfer existing ticket holders to the corresponding dates in 2021 – these dates/times will be published imminently on our website and social media channels.”

Anyone unable to make the re-scheduled date, can arrange a refund or a different date via the box office.
