Video: Queen opens Forth Road Bridge in 1964
With the Forth Road Bridge currently closed to all traffic due to a structural fault, it was perhaps fitting that we came across this archive footage of the opening of the structure back in 1964.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II performed the opening ceremony, before the royal car became the first vehicle to officially cross the new bridge.
The Pathe News footage, in colour and with commentary, gives a fascinating glimpse of the day, now more than 50 years ago, and how much has changed in the surrounding area since then.
