Kirkcaldy entrepreneur Remo Maciocia has purchased the old HSS Hire building on the corner near the harbour, and hopes to bring footfall back to the area.

He plans to develop the building and bring it back into use with a mixture of commercial and residential facilities.

While plans are still in the early stages, the businessman is positive about the prospects for the area.

Mr Maciocia has yet to finalise the direction of the development, but he said that filling an empty building would be a boost for the area.

He told the Press: “It’s a view to creating taxes, creating employment and rejuvenation. It’s been dormant for years. I’m trying to create employment for people. It’s a property development that’s going to enhance the promenade instead of having a derelict beaten-up building there.

"It’ll be a very important focal point with the development of the promenade.

"The Langtonians have been good to me over the years and I want to give back something to Kirkcaldy.”
