Located in Auchtertool, and lead by Steve Mitchell. The Buffalo Farm’s shop at Boglily Steading has proved to be a real favourite for locals as well as becoming a popular destination attracting visitors from across Scotland and beyond.

And now it has been awarded the special accolade of Scotland’s Best Farm Shop and Deli – winning the award for the first time.

Mr Mitchell said: “This is absolutely amazing, and such an uplift for our team. It was really unexpected because it wasn’t an award we applied for – it was 100 per cent led by the readers of the Great British Food Magazine (which organises the awards) and our customers who voted for us to win it.

“It makes it even more special is that it was voted for by our customers, a fantastic reward to recognise our team’s passion for our products, commitment, and excellent friendly service. We have come such a long way in the last few years, it is all thanks to the support of our customers.

He continued: “We were up against good competition – ironically two were really good Fife businesses, two of the four finalists were the Ardross Farm Shop and Balgove Larder Farm Shop.

“There are so many fantastic farm shops in Scotland, and I am proud to have Buffalo Farm held in the same high regard. It was great just being finalists. We didn’t expect to win it!

“We have so many plans for growing the shop further, and the award gives us so much confidence to keep pushing forward.”

The creation of the farm shop started with very humble beginnings with just one fridge selling buffalo meat located outside their office in 2015.

Fast forward five years and the shop continues to grow and now features an extensive range of meat and produce from local suppliers as well as the ever-popular Bothy Coffee Shop which opened in 2018.
