Kirkcaldy fishmonger goes from strength to strength six months after opening new shop
and live on Freeview channel 276
Already with an established fishmonger shop a few miles down the road on Burntisland High Street, owner Calum Sinclair decided to take the plunge and open a second shop in October of last year.
Calum said he knew it was the right move to open a shop in Kirkcaldy and he could see there was a market for it: “The decision to open our second store in Kirkcaldy was a no brainer,” he said.

"The first six months have been an unprecedented success, not a week has gone by that we haven’t seen an increase in customers coming into our shop. Kirkcaldy seems to have a real appetite for fresh sustainably sourced fish and artisanal cheese.”
Although there has been much criticism for Kirkcaldy High Street in recent years, Calum believes things are now on the turn, as there has been a shift in customers choosing to support local during the coronavirus pandemic.
Calum, like so many of the other hard-working independents in Kirkcaldy, is passionate about a prosperous future for the High Street.

"Just because the big names have left, does not mean the end. Even though many businesses are closed due to current restrictions, customers are still visiting the high street and making the most of the local businesses that are open. A visit to the High Street on a Friday during the market is proof of that.”
He added that exciting developments are in the pipeline: “We are excited to continue to grow and expand the business, both shops are busy and we have seen the need for home deliveries continue as many of our customers are still choosing to stay home.
"Our latest expansion includes us collaborating with another Burntisland business, Sunrise Bakehouse, who will be stocking our Kirkcaldy shop with fresh bread very soon.”
