TRG is aiming to renegotiate better terms with its landlords in the hope of making business more profitable.

In June TRG also said that it would undertake a review of its sites, identifying approximately 210 trading sites that are either underperforming, on unfavourable lease terms, or are not expected to perform well.

The revelation comes after the signs for the Kirkcaldy restaurant were taken down last week.

A spokesperson at Frankie and Benny’s said: "The casual dining sector has faced enormous, well documented pressures which have been exacerbated by covid-19 and the lockdown.

“Unfortunately, we have had to take difficult but necessary decisions to ensure a sustainable future for our business.

“We have been in close contact with affected colleagues throughout this process and we are doing all we can to support them during this time.”
