She said: “I am a nurse by trade and a full-time carer for my great uncle and I just thought it would be nice to be independent and have my own shop.

"People have said it is strange that I have opened my business now, given the climate that we are in, but I feel we need to start building up Kirkcaldy High Street again.

"Down this end of the High Street we are getting busier with new shops opening. I know the landlady for this premises as I had a house with her before and I spoke to her telling her I wanted to open a wee gift box shop, something a bit different.

"It all then happened very quickly. I came in and got my friends to help me paint and decorate. It was Izzy’s Bargain Box, a sweetie shop, in here before me and then she moved into the premises next door.

"So this shop had been empty for over a year. I just thought I would try it and see, offer something different for this end of the High Street – quality items at reasonable prices.

"It is the first time I have ever owned a business."

She added: “The reaction has been good so far. I just want to try and bring something different to the High Street and build up the business. People are more than welcome to pop in and see what Kimbo’s Flowers and Gift Box has to offer.”
