Love Oor Lang Toun, which was founded during lockdown, is an established Community Interest Company (CIC) - a type of social enterprise which works with and represents the interests of the community.

The independent, community-led group, along with Greener Kirkcaldy, is working with Fife Council to bring new energy and build on the buzz which has grown around Kirkcaldy town centre since lockdown restrictions started to ease.

In May it launched the pilot project ShopAppy Kirkcaldy - the first town in Scotland to sign up to the online marketplace and it now has 40 businesses involved.

ShopAppy is partnered with Visa, and thanks to funding from Fife Council, Love Oor Lang Toun is offering Kirkcaldy businesses the chance to try it for free until the end of March 2021.

Cara Forrester, of Love Oor Lang Toun, said she is really pleased with the new merchandise: “We are delighted to be able to sell our new merchandise in the Enlightenment’s Project.

“A lot of people have commented on how much they like our logo so we thought it would be a good idea to produce a range of products for local people to buy for themselves or perhaps as a gift.

“We only have a limited stock available of our bags, mugs, masks, badges & pens so be quick!”
