Lockdown boost as number of doorstep delivery milkmen more than doubles in Fife

The company’s Kirkcaldy depot recruited 15 new milkmen in 2020 and now employs 29 delivering to its growing number of customers.
Across the country, the family business, which was founded in 1995 by company chairman Mick McQueen and his wife Meg, has recruited over 250 new employees in the last 12months, the bulk being milk delivery staff.
The company now employs 700 people atn its new multi-million £ dairy and network of distribution depots across central and southern Scotland and the north of England, including the couple’s five children who hold senior positions within the business.

Hide AdMick McQueen, chairman, said: “Just 12 months ago our Kirkcaldy depot employed 14 milkmen and women, but having experienced a significant increase in demand for our doorstep delivery service we’ve had to more than double the number to 29 - and it is likely we’ll be looking to recruit further this year.”

McQueens also operates distributions depots in Glasgow, East Kilbride, Edinburgh, Galashiels, Mansfield, Bradford, Warrington, Preston, Stockton on Tees and Carlisle.
Mr McQueen added: “More and more customers tell us that they really like opening their doors in the morning to a delivery of fresh milk, and that’s being reflected in the number of milkmen we employ.
