The project will operate as a social enterprise, with all profits invested in getting more locals in the town cycling.

David Glover, cycle workshop and retail co-ordinator, said: “We’ve been operating a temporary cycle surgery from the Greener Kirkcaldy building for the last couple of months and have been overwhelmed by the demand from our community.

"If you’re looking for a reasonably priced bike, you have a bike in need of repairs or a service, or you want to try out a bike before you buy one, come and see us and we’ll see what we can do to help.”

Lang Toun Cycles will also offer training in bike maintenance for those looking to learn the skills themselves, alongside Greener Kirkcaldy’s already popular programme of cycle training and social bike rides which are aimed at increasing peoples’ confidence cycling.

Mr Glover continued: “We also take donated bikes and fix them up to save them from landfill, whilst also providing affordable second-hand bikes to make cycling more accessible to everyone.

"We accept bikes of all shapes, sizes and conditions, from kids balance bikes up to large adult bikes, trikes and tandems.”

“All proceeds from refurbished bike sales go back into Lang Toun Cycles.”
