But a change in personal circumstances led Donna to continue with her much coveted interiors led business and that left me with the opportunity to take We are Amused in a different direction.”
She explained where the idea for the studio and gallery came from: “After launching the online art print business working from home, it became clear that in order to grow the business I needed premises,” she said.
“The idea of the gallery came from numerous visits to Brighton and Hove, in particular The Lanes. The idea of a gallery/shop similar to those I visited and loved in the coastal city was the inspiration I needed to forge ahead with this venture. The gallery and studio is founded with my business partner Laurie Stephenson.”
Susan graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art with a degree in printed textiles and since then, she has worked as a freelance designer and photographer before co-founding We are Amused.

"I was lucky enough to find premises in lockdown at the Old Station Building in Burntisland. It has allowed me to develop a studio space alongside a gallery.”
She explained that her work at the gallery involves curating prints by mostly local artists with works from Susan McGill, Katy Eccles and Lindsey Mackenzie and she said framed prints start from £30.
Susan continued: “I hope to have a gallery offering cool art work from really creative people I admire and I will be seeking out new talent too.”
