Pomy’s will once more open its doors at noon on Thursday, August 20.

Owner Imran Haqqan said that new measures would be in place to protect customers, including limiting numbers and having staff man the buffet stations to distribute food.

The move helps reduce the risk of cross contamination between customers, with only staff being able to give out food on request.

Mr Haqqan said: “We’re opening August 20 at 12pm.

"We’re going to have limited places for a buffet, maybe eight or nine, and they’re going to be served by staff, who will be standing at the buffet stations.

"For example they might request two pakoras and staff will serve it up.

"We’re looking forward to opening.”

The restaurant opened shortly before Christmas 2019, and drew in diners in their first three months of operation.

The building has been extensively refurbished after lying empty for years. It had previously been the Acorn pet store, and Intersport before that.

Pommy’s World Buffet is on the corner of Tolbooth Street and the Esplanade.
