Detached houses record biggest price rise in Fife in latest figures

House prices remained steady in Fife in November, according to new figures.

The lack of movement maintained the longer-term trend, which has seen property prices in the area achieve 5.3% annual growth.

The average house price in November was £143,815, Land Registry figures show – and that is largely unchanged from October.

Over the month, the picture was worse than that across Scotland, where prices increased 0.9%, and Fife underperformed compared to the 1.2% rise for the UK as a whole.

Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Fife rose by £7,200 – putting the area 21st among Scotland’s 32 local authorities for annual growth.

Owners of detached houses saw the biggest improvement.

They went up 0.5%, to £259,701 on average. Over the last year, prices rose by 6.7%.

Semi-detached home prices dropped 0.3% monthly; up 6% annually; with a £150,920 average.

Terraced homes: down 0.1% monthly; up 6% annually; £118,089 average

Flats: down 0.3% monthly; up 2.3% annually; £88,727 average

First-time buyers spent an average of £115,600 on their property – £5,300 more than a year ago, and £17,200 more than in October 2015.

Fife buyers paid 13.2% less than the average price in Scotland (£166,000) in November.

And living in the Kingdom is much cheaper than the other side of the Forth.

The most expensive properties in Scotland were in Edinburgh – £287,000 on average, or twice as much.

Edinburgh properties cost 2.6 times as much as homes in East Ayrshire (£110,000 average), at the other end of the scale.
