A trip to the Space Needle, a visit to the world-famous Pike Place Market and a ticket to the Seattle Thunderbirds were just some of the activities enjoyed by Maria Alehno from Kirkcaldy after she jetted off on a trip to Seattle.

Maria, who works at Amazon in Dunfermline, made the trip to Seattle after taking part in the ‘I Found the Right Place’ programme.

It invites Amazon employees to tell the company why it is the right place for them and what they love most about life at the company.

She enjoys the flexibility in her role as it also allows her to study in her spare time. She also praised the diversity at Amazon and how her role had helped her meet new people from a wide variety of places, including Peru and Australia.

“My two favourite activities were visiting Pike Place Market and our trip to Amazon campus.

“At the market, we met farmers and fishermen and it was brilliant to hear the story of their produce while also learning some of the history of the market itself.

“The trip to the campus was great and it was a real privilege to know that the badge you wear to work in the UK can give you access to such a cool place like the Spheres, where you can read, work and study. They look great on the outside too – seeing them was a real highlight.”

Graham Allison, general manager at Amazon in Dunfermline, added: “Maria’s story of why she loves working at Amazon was fantastic and we were proud to see her jet off to Seattle. We loved hearing all about her trip.”
